Not only do most sunscreens come in a plastic bottle but look at the ingredients and changes are you don't know any of them. Shade natural sunscreen SPF25 on the other hand only 4 ingredients: Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Beeswax and Zinc Oxide.
Tested to European ISO Standards for broad spectrum effectiveness (UVA & UVB) and SPF Verification
Suitable for all skin types of all ages, does not irritate sensitive skin, can be used by people with skin allergies, is soothing, nourishing and moisturising.
No ‘nasty’ chemicals at all - no parabens, alcohol, lanolin, methylchloroisothiazolinine, methylisothiazolinine, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, phthalates, artifical perfumes, petrochemicals or colourants.
100% natural and not tested on animals.
Non-Nano Zinc Oxide used which sits as a physical barrier to the sun, relecting it from the skin's surface. Zinc Oxide is the most effective broad spectrum sun protection you can get, yet it is also the safest.
Only 4 natural, skin-nourishing ingredients, nothing more, nothing less.
36% Organic Virgin Coconut Oil - We know just how healthful this amazingly versatile oil is but what most don't know is that it also has a natural, although low, SPF.
36% Organic Unrefined Shea Butter - Known to be exceptionally good for your skin.
10% Unrefined Beeswax - Great at locking in moisture, has excellent water-repellent properties as well as being an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and anti-allergenic.
18% Zinc Oxide - Widely acknowledged as offering the safest, broadest-spectrum sun protection possible, premium quality uncoated, non-Nano Zinc Oxide, which also has a cooling, slightly astringent, antiseptic, antibacterial and protective action on the skin, making Shade a perfect aftersun too.
Like all suncream we recommend avoiding the harshest of the sun’s rays by staying in the shade between 11am-3pm.
Shade suncream requires regular application and isn't water resistant. It will leave your skin a little 'white', which is the zinc oxide active ingredient layer, so don’t be afraid of this, as it indicates that your sunscreen has been applied correctly.
What is SPF25?
SPF25 means that it will take up to 25 times longer to burn when you use it than you would if you were to not use anything in the same environmental conditions.
Many people think that by simply reapplying frequently their sun cream (whichever brand) will allow them to stay in the sun for longer and longer. This is not the case, and is a common misconception.
SPF25 means that the protection is 96% - that also means that 4% of rays are still reaching the skin. If you feel you are beginning burn, it's your body's warning to you that you have been exposed for too long, and the sensible approach is to cover up by wearing clothing or move out of the sun altogether. Applying more sunscreen only ensures you are still covered for the original 25x timeframe - it does not extend the amount of time you can stay in the sun - those 4% of rays are still doing their damage. It's important that you listen to your body and its signals.
Any sunscreen should be applied adequately, approximately one shot glass full of sunscreen per average adult body is considered appropriate for full coverage, a teaspoon's worth for a face - that seems a lot, but when you halve this amount and use less than required, you are actually square-rooting the SPF rendering an SPF25 for example into an SPF5!There are factors which can make skin more vulnerable to the sun's rays, such as certain medications, and other factors such as reflective surfaces, for example water, snow (intensifies rays by and extra 80%!), even grass, and pavements have reflective properties, and altitude intensifies exposure also.
What is the UVA rating?
Shade as a PA++++ UVA grading (in the SO24443:2012 test). The UVA star rating is not used by Shade in order not to breach trademark laws.
